Quilt preparation
Proper preparation of your quilt top and backing is the most important step when sending your quilt to us! A well-prepared quilt top not only enhances the overall appearance, but also contributes to the durability and longevity of your finished quilt. Remember, attention to detail during this stage will pay off in the final result!
Prepare your backing

We require a minimum of 4 inches of backing fabric on all sides. This will equal an extra 8 inches horizontally and vertically. Backing must be square and even for proper loading on to the longarm.
Iron & trim quilt top

Both the quilt top/backing must be ironed to minimize creasing and ensure the fabric will lay flat. This is also a great time to go through and clip any loose threads that are visible from the front, especially when using lighter fabrics. If you feel there is a "top" to your quilt that we may miss, please label with masking tape.
Batting options

If you are sending a specific batting it will need to be 3 inches larger then your quilt top on all sides (an extra 6 inches horizontally/vertically). We also carry select batting that you can purchase straight from us.
Do not baste/pin layers

The quilt top, batting and backing fabric are all loaded individually onto the longarm machine. Please do not baste or pin them together ahead of bringing your quilt to us.
Choosing your thread

We use Glide and Superior Threads for the quilting process. You are welcome to send a good quality thread for us to use or choose from our selection. You must also specify which colour is for top thread or bottom thread if choosing 2 seperate options.
Binding add-on

If you would like to have binding added on at time of long arming, we offer 2 different options. We can either sew on your binding at the end of quilting (leaving you to complete sewing to the other side) or we are also able to sew on and finish by hand sewing to the back of the quilt based on open availability.
